Demo is a virtual exhibition space that explores and experiments with alternative strategies for the display of art on the web. The space explores the use of axonometric or orthographic projection, and modes of interaction that blur the relationship between object and environment, between exhibition making and exhibition viewing.
Below are seven scenarios that illustrate how this virtual exhibition space might stage or orchestrate different exhibition experiences. Note that these scenarios are for demonstration purposes, since the space encourages viewers to actively move both objects and display elements, in a participatory process where the viewer's role is as essential as the curator or the designer.
SCENARIO 1 Where objects and display elements form a collective center.
SCENARIO 2 Where objects and display elements are scattered across the space.
SCENARIO 3 Where objects are grouped in curatorial clusters (Option 1).
SCENARIO 4 Where objects are grouped in curatorial clusters (Option 2).
SCENARIO 5 Where a single object takes centrestage.
SCENARIO 6 Where viewers choose between reading text or looking at objects.
SCENARIO 7 Where the space fills with more display elements depending on how many viewers are currently visiting the site.
